The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC features Meta Trak’s next-generation push-to-start immobilisation whereby vehicle immobilisation is achieved through immobilisation of the vehicle's start button. Developed in-house by Meta Trak, the DEADLOCK E-TEC security system has been uniquely designed for hybrid and electric technology, although it can be used for normal ICE (internal combustion engine)-only applications.

The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC utilises Meta Trak’s newly accredited Thatcham CAT2 immobiliser, used uniquely to achieve immobilisation of a vehicle's start button. The most significant advantage of Meta Trak’s newly developed push-to-start immobilisation is that it provides a way to immobilise modern electrified powertrain technologies without causing faults that may appear on the vehicle’s dash display, a common issue with other forms of immobilisation on modern vehicles. The DEADLOCK E-TEC is effective at preventing a variety of modern digital theft methods such as relay attacks, key cloning, OBD attacks/CAN injections, and more.

  • The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC system features advanced immobilisation capabilities. It immobilises the vehicle by disabling the push-to-start button, preventing thieves from turning on the vehicle's ignition and activating the starting procedure. Vehicle immobilisation activates automatically with the use of Meta Trak’s ID tag, arming the immobiliser when the tag is out of range and disarming it when the tag comes back into range. This prevents modern digital theft methods such as relay attacks, OBD hacking, and key cloning. The default configuration is set as No Tag, No Start, but customers can request a change in configuration at the time of installation or contact Meta Trak for over-the-air configuration changes.

    1. "No Tag, No Start": The immobiliser automatically arms and disarms based on the proximity of the Meta Trak ID tag, allowing seamless vehicle start-up without user interaction.

    2. "No Tag, One Start": Allows the vehicle to start once without the ID tag being present, this helps to prevent forced entry into a customer's property if thieves cannot get the vehicle started themselves. The immobiliser arms the next time the vehicle ignition is switched off and the ID tag is not found. This puts distance between the thieves and the customer before the vehicle is permanently immobilised, the customers will still receive an alert when the vehicle is driven away without the ID tag after which recovery efforts will begin.

    3. "Button Press": Automatically arms the immobiliser 50 seconds after ignition off, the immobiliser can only be disarmed by pressing the central button on the ID tag.

    4. "Remote Immobilisation Only": The immobiliser can only be armed and disarmed remotely using the Meta Trak mobile app or web-based portal, commonly used for fleet and plant applications for asset tracking and remote immobilisation capabilities.

  • The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC system allows you to remotely immobilise your vehicle from anywhere using your smartphone or a web browser. This feature is especially useful in high-risk environments where your vehicle's key and ID tags may be at risk of theft. Sending a remote immobilisation command prevents thieves from starting your vehicle, even if they have the keys and ID tags. This process is known as 'DEADLOCKING' the vehicle.

  • Meta Trak's driver recognition system uses a small battery-operated ID tag attached to your vehicle's keys. When the vehicle's ignition is turned on, the system checks for the ID tag to determine if an authorised driver is present. If the tag is not detected, an alert is sent to the secure operating centre. The system uses Bluetooth Low Energy communication technology. The ID tags have a battery life of approximately 12-18 months.

  • The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC system uses Meta Trak’s Wireless Link Architecture technology to allow all components to communicate with each other wirelessly. This means the immobiliser can connect with the tracking device without a direct, wired connection. The setup provides a security advantage as the devices can be installed in separate areas of the vehicle, making it harder for thieves to disable both at once through tracing of shared hardwired connection commonly seen amongst similar products.

  • If your Meta Trak DEADLOCK E-TEC immobiliser is blocked and you have no mobile signal, you can use the Emergency Immobiliser Unblock feature in the Meta Trak app. It allows you to create a secure digital key within the app, which can be used to communicate directly with your immobiliser to unblock it without needing a mobile phone signal or internet access. Once set up, your smartphone broadcasts the key via Bluetooth to unblock the engine immobiliser. Note that this procedure can only unblock the immobiliser and cannot be used to block it.

  • All Meta Trak tracking solutions come with a modern and user-friendly app. You can log in to view real-time and up-to-date data from your vehicle using Meta Trak's mobile app or through a web browser on Meta Trak's online portal. The smartphone app is available for both iOS and Android users.

  • The Meta Trak S5 DEADThe Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC system is monitored 24/7/365 through Meta Trak’s Secure Operating Centre. If your system generates an alert, personnel from the monitoring centre will call the number associated with your account immediately to confirm the status of the vehicle. If you confirm that your vehicle has been stolen, the team will work directly with police forces to provide them with live location data to recover your vehicle.   • Meta Trak's app lets you easily track your vehicle's real-time location and movements using Google Maps integration.

  • The Meta Trak app logs all your journeys for a year, tracks driving behaviour, and provides scores for each journey on a scale from 0-100 using built-in gyro and accelerometer, with Google Maps integration.

  • The Meta Trak S5 DEADLOCK E-TEC system uses a multi-frequency GNSS receiver for accurate positioning data from GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo satellite constellations. Assisted GPS and GSM can be used for faster satellite acquisition and cell-based positioning to triangulate the vehicle's location.

  • Meta Trak's telematics devices use multi-network roaming SIMs to ensure an optimal network connection for communications. This allows the device to seamlessly switch between the strongest signals available, ensuring reliable data transmission and reception, even in areas with poor signal.

  • If your vehicle's position changes while the ignition is off, such as during towing, the system will send an alert to the secure operating centre and you will receive an unauthorised movement alert via push notification through the Meta Trak app.

  • If the vehicle battery is disconnected or if power is lost, an alert will be sent to the control room. The tracking unit has an internal battery backup and will send a push notification to the Meta Trak app.

  • If your vehicle's battery falls below a pre-set threshold (11.6V), the system will send a push notification to the Meta Trak app. In the Meta Trak app, you can also view and monitor your vehicle's live battery voltage.

  • Meta Trak's insurance-approved security systems are actively monitored to provide customers with peace of mind and ensure proper operation. As per Thatcham's criteria for 'Vehicle Tracking Systems,' Meta Trak will monitor and address any issues reported through the system's daily health report.
